- Pilot project of High Impact Soot System
SootTech received in the beginning of Spring 2007 an order for delivering the Pilot Installation of HISS (High Impact Soot System) to a Swedish Pulp- and Paper Mill. The engineering and software design work were done during the Spring of 2007.
In the end of May, the first HISS-equipment were installed, and have functioned perfect since then.
Continued installation, as well as start-up of the complete system, were done in two more stages.
In the beginning of July, 2007, the majority of the Soot Blowers were equipped and started-up with HISS-control. This meant immediate advantages, since the number of Soot Blowing starts were increased by 50%.
The installation and start-up were done during production, without any interrupts or production losses.
Together with the Pilot Customer we could state that the HISS-technology worked not only in theory, but also in practice, and also with very good results.
The next goal were to keep the Recovery Boiler up and running until the planned yearly stop period in the end of September.
After seven months of production, also this goal had been achieved.
During the stop period, the remaining Soot Blowers were equipped with HISS-equipment, and the boiler could start again with the complete HISS-installation in action.
In this project, HISS has made it possible for the Pilot Customer to increase the number of Soot Blowing starts from 86.000/year to 172.000/year without any increase of the Soot Steam, and it has has also given the customer the possibillity to save up to 36.000 tons of high pressure steam/year.
